HOW TO DELEGATE

What to say:

  • Address your remarks to the Chair and Members of the Committee and introduce yourself.

  • It doesn’t have to be fancy, formal or long—simple and from the heart are best.

  • Explain why you love Burlington's Mt Nemo and the city's greenbelt lands

  • Explain why you are concerned about the current quarry and the proposed expansion on Mt Nemo (examples of problems you have had are helpful). Some items that may be relevant to you are:

Air Quality – Dust, Toxic Substances, Green House Gas Emissions

Water Quality and/or Quantity

Blasting – Vibration, Property Damage, Flyrock

Truck Traffic and Road Safety

Noise

Imported Waste Construction Fill – potential contamination of groundwater

Permanent destruction of farmland

Permanent destruction of natural habitats

Impact on wildlife and the natural environment

Impact on property value

Safety of your family

Anything else that worries or concerns you

Ask City Council to represent you at the Ontario Land Tribunal hearing and use whatever city resources are required to mount a strong opposition to Nelson Aggregates' application to blast a mega-quarry in Burlington's greenbelt back yard.

 

To delegate (to speak) at the Public Meeting

YOU MUST REGISTER BY NOON ON FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 15th

When registering you will be asked for the Committee or Council Meeting you wish to attend. Use 'Community Planning, Regulation & Mobility Committee – Public'. The Agenda/ Report number is:  PL-51-23.

 

Speakers will have a maximum of 10 minutes each. Please note, that speaking for even a minute or two will have impact, so don't worry about keeping your remarks short and to the point.

We recommend you read from a prepared text so that you do not go over the ten minute time limit.
